For the 2020 Sanya 6th Asian Beach Games, a blockbuster 1,500-square-meter immersive light landmark, the “Eternal Ring,” was created. Serving as the core stage and central visual medium for the opening ceremony, and based on Sanya’s unique coastal landforms, it created a large-scale outdoor digital stage engineering project full of coastal charm. With a circular shape as its design core, the project symbolizes the sports spirit of Asian neighbors being connected and progressing hand in hand, perfectly aligning with the youthful, energetic, united, and friendly theme of the Asian Beach Games.
Blending stage design creativity with digital technology, the “Eternal Ring” perfectly showcases Sanya’s cityscape and the charm of coastal sports. It helped ensure the success of the Asian Beach Games, presenting the coastal beauty and sports culture of Hainan, China, to the whole of Asia. After the event, the venue will continue its regular operations in cultural tourism performances, large-scale events, science promotion, and as a check-in spot for urban landmarks. This achieves the long-term utilization of event resources and sets a benchmark case for the immersive stage design application of large-scale cultural and sports events in Hainan.
The “Eternal Ring” is primarily applied in scenarios such as the Asian Beach Games opening ceremony, themed cultural and artistic performances, international exchanges of sports culture, and urban image light shows. It is perfectly suited for large-scale outdoor cultural and sports events, cultural tourism light shows, and high-end city promotion activities.
